Dear Kennett Partners,
Thank you for all of the conversations, contact-sharing and lunches over the past year as we have visited Kennett to learn more about your community and develop our new Mighty Writers initiative in Kennett Square. Special thanks to Laura at the library & Claire at Historic Kennett, our unofficial ambassadors!
As you know, we’re committed to serving 100% bilingual and Latinx youth in this program, and we are looking for a strong leader who can grow the program. We have final meetings with excellent candidates during the week of 7/29, and hope to be able to introduce you to our new program manager very soon.
Here are the programs we received funding to begin in 2019-20:
- Girl power for elementary youth, aged 8-11, location TBD. Once/week after school beginning in September.
- Girl power for high school youth, aged 14-18. The focus is job readiness (writing a resume, writing a cover letter, writing a personal statement), location TBD. Once/week after school beginning in September.
- Additionally, our program manager will schedule monthly, bilingual Family Write Nights to introduce ourselves to the entire Latinx community in Kennett.
Job description attached, so you can get a sense of our planning. To those generous partners who have offered space for our new programs, I will be in touch soon about that!
Yours in Mightiness,
