Spend a memorable afternoon on Sunday, September 8th watching horses and players in the beautiful setting of the Brandywine Polo Club and support the great work of The Land Conservancy for Southern Chester County (TLC). “If you’ve never been to a polo match, Brandywine Polo Club is the place to watch it,” says TLC Director of Development Jennifer Kriesel. “They play right up next to the pavilion and spectators get to see the horses and players race across the polo field, which is three football fields long. It makes for an exciting experience for all ages.”
Polo for the Preserves, now in its second year, raises funds and awareness for TLC and its work to protect and steward the area’s natural beauty. All proceeds benefit TLC’s efforts to conserve wildlife habitat and all the rich natural resources of Southern Chester County including watersheds, historic sites, and working agricultural lands. “Join us for a beautiful day and learn about TLC’s latest land acquisitions, conservation projects, and how you can help,” says Kriesel. “Polo is family-friendly, so bring the kids. Dogs on a leash are also welcome.”
The gates open at 1:30pm, with the polo match starting at 3pm. Tickets include entrance to the polo match and viewing from the pavilion, and those who purchase tickets in advance also receive a free drink ticket. Natalie’s Fine Foods will offer food for purchase, and a cash bar with wine and beer will be available as well. There will be a special membership raffle and a small art auction featuring local artists.
Open space is on everyone’s mind, and for nearly 25 years TLC has been working to preserve nearly 1,500 acres in seven townships. TLC has five nature preserves that are open to the public (four of them are dog friendly). A sixth, 180-acre preserve is set to open within the next year. In addition, TLC hosts a dynamic and robust schedule of year-round educational programs for participants of all ages including summer camps, owl prowls, history hikes, and more that are designed to foster a connection with the natural world.
