We are celebrating the 20th Anniversary of the KSQ Farmers Market, serving our local community since 2000! We offer a wonderful variety which changes some week to week with bi-weekly, monthly and guest vendors. The weekly lineup below is typically updated by the Thursday prior to Market day to be as accurate as possible, so please check the date above to know that you are seeing details for the current week. FARMS & GROWERS

(In-Season Produce, Meats, Plants/Flowers)

Breezy Acre Flowers (every Friday) Ben has a beautiful selection of naturally-grown, chemical-free produce, gorgeous cut flower bouquets, hanging baskets & well-tended plants from his family farm in Nottingham. This week’s produce harvest: Lots of lettuce heads (red & butter), edamame, eggplant, mixed cherry tomatoes, slicing & heirloom tomatoes, green & gold zucchini, red & gold potatoes, fingerling potatoes, onions, garlic, sweet potatoes, and homegrown popcorn. Mums of all colors & sizes plus the purple asters are beautiful! Sweet corn is between harvests right now—hopefully more soon!

Canter Hill Farm (every Friday) Wayne always has an array of pasture-raised poultry (chicken, turkey, duck) & eggs, pork, and grass-fed meats (beef, lamb). Choose from a wide variety of cuts along with pork, chicken, lamb & turkey sausages. Preorder by emailing the farm in advance to get exactly what you need or for large/bulk orders. Cultinate Greens (bi-weekly) Kennett-native Nate Taylor is farming new land and has also partnered with Tim Mountz of Happy Cat Farm, growing a beautiful variety of vegetables + microgreens using organic practices. This week’s harvest: a variety of leafy greens, radishes, Hakurei turnips, Mexican sour gherkins & shishitos. And of course, MICROGREENS—which are packed with intense flavor & loaded with nutrients!

Day Spring Farm (1st/3rd/5th Fridays) Day Spring Farm is a small, multi-use operation located in Chester County, PA. Julia Inslee produces seasonal artisan sheep milk cheeses from their small herd of East Friesian ewes raised free and out doors. Julia will also bring unique wool crafts such as felted animals, mats, dryer balls. Day Spring Farm values happy animals, sharing knowledge, and providing wholesome food to our neighbors.

Fiddle Creek Dairy (3RD FRIDAYS ONLY) Fiddle Creek is a family-operated micro dairy in Quarryville, PA. Tim Crowhill Sauder & Frances Miller produce Greek & Swiss style YOGHURT (in glass) with whole milk from their small herd of grass-fed Jersey cows. The yoghurt is full of incredibly rich, all-natural flavor—no fillers or sweeteners added. Also available: rich, low-temp vat pasteurized, non-homogenized WHOLE MILK, plus their own grass-fed beef (ground, steaks, roasts, chip) and veal (ground, cuts).

Flying Plow Farm (every Market day) The Flying Plow team brings a variety of certified organic vegetables plus their own pasture-raised chicken  and 100% grass-fed beef—all direct from their farm in Rising Sun. This week’s harvest: greens mix, arugula, lettuce mix, curly kale, red Russian kale, head lettuce, cucumbers, hot peppers, bell peppers & sweet frying peppers, tomatoes, potatoes, summer squash & zucchini, yellow onions, beets, garlic, radishes, Hakurei turnips, kohlrabi, butternut squash. New this week: COLLARDS!, sweet potatoes & Napa cabbage. They also have mushrooms available from their friends at Medina Mushrooms in Oxford, PA! Preorder on their website for bulk items & easy pick-up. EGGS are limited right now, so order in advance!

Rex Farms Orchard / Big Hill Ciderworks (every Friday) This week Troy & Maria will have more Gingergold, Gala, Daybreak Fuji & Honeycrisp apples. Also more delicious yellow peaches, yellow nectarines + white nectarines. They always have a fine selection of Big Hill hard ciders, which are truly farm-to-bottle with the fruit grown, pressed, fermented, bottled & distributed right from the orchards.

Swallow Hill (every Friday) Elizabeth & Douglas offer a gorgeous variety of “fine produce home-grown with love” from their farm in Cochranville, using sustainable and holistic farming methods. This week’s harvest: more beautiful Jade green beans, plentiful Carmen peppers, red & green bell peppers, sweet & red onions, summer squash & zucchini, jalapeños, Fresnos, shishitos, limited cherry tomatoes (Sunsugar & Jasper.) Also, salad turnips, Imperial broccoli (limited), beautiful Tuscan kale, aptly named Tendersweet cabbage, spaghetti squash, delicata, Honey Bear acorn & butternut squash.

 

FOOD ARTISANS & PRODUCERS

Brandywine Bee Company (1st/3rd/5th Fridays) Michael Langer, beekeeper extraordinaire, is back with raw HONEY from his local hives. He also brings assorted beeswax-based products like CANDLES, soothing hand SALVES, soaps, leather dressing and wood preservative to maintain your cutting boards. Come visit the bees this week in the observation hive—and “spot” the queen!

Brandywine Valley Bread (every Friday) Fran bakes naturally leavened (sourdough) breads in Downingtown using local & organic grains. They always bring beautiful freshly-baked baguettes, several types of crusty boules, pre-sliced sandwich loaves (Pullmans), a variety of BAGELS, and a selection of handcrafted morning buns and croissants. Come get a taste of Brandywine’s best!

Joanne’s Candy Kitchen (every Friday) Kevin brings his sweet confections such as chocolate-covered caramels, a variety of chocolate creams & candy barks, chocolate-covered pretzels, peppermint patties and more!—all handcrafted with Wilbur Chocolate from Lititz, PA. His Almond Butter Crunch is a market-favorite, perfectly crafted with a family recipe handed down through the generations.

Little Goat Coffee Roasting Co. (1st/3rd/5th Fridays) From their coffee shop and micro-roaster in Newark DE, Joe Lins & Olivia Brinton bring freshly roasted, organically grown, and ethically sourced whole coffee beans from around the world. Bring your own reusable container or bag for a $2 discount!

Maiale Deli & Salumeria (Maiale will not be at Market until further notice.)

Sunset Park Cookies (1st/3rd/5th Fridays) Fred’s gluten-free/vegan/nut-free/soy-free baked goods can be enjoyed by anyone! He always has a variety of cookies (molasses, chocolate chip, oatmeal raisin, snickerdoodles, lemon, sugar-free), sweet breads (zucchini, pumpkin, banana, blueberry, carrot), as well as sweet-tooth satisfying whoopie pies (pumpkin, chocolate, lemon, mocha). Fred takes special or advance orders—just reach out.

Tat’s Yummies (every Friday) Melina specializes in European patisseries that reflect her heritage and family traditions. Every Friday, she has a wide variety of sweet delicacies, including petit fours, macaron, pastries, cupcakes, cookies, cakes, and pies—made with simple, natural ingredients. She will have plenty of tender focaccia with various toppings. 

 

PREPARED FOODS

(Ready-to-heat + Ready-to-eat)

Masala Meals (1st/3rd/5th Fridays) Locally-made, plant-based Indian fare to keep in the freezer until you’re ready to heat & eat! Be sure to stop by for a taste. Offerings may include: Palak Tofu (spinach with tofu), Mung Daal Stew (mung bean lentil stew with jeera rice) & Sundal (spiced chickpeas with coconut.)

On the Roll is a local food truck/catering family-owned business that offers a wide variety of delicious food made with fresh and varied ingredients—serving “casual fare with a gourmet flair.” This week’s menu: Petit Filet Sliders, the Kennett Mushroom Melt, Baja Fish Tacos, Crazy Crab Fries, Hot Dogs, and Fries (plain and assorted toppings.)

Taste of Puebla (every Friday) Grab a quick bite at Market: Chris always brings their fresh, HOT TAMALES (pork, chicken or vegan.) Chef Mariana & Cristobal Castaneda make delicious Mexican fare using family recipes. They always have plenty of hand-cut corn chips, fresh guacamole, pico de gallo, spicy red salsa & salsa fresca. For simple suppers, try their take-home options: Black Beans, vegan Mexican Rice, and seasoned meats such as Mole Poblano with Chicken, Chicken Tinga, Pulled Pork plus 3-packs of refrigerated tamales.

The Market is held RAIN OR SHINE. As long as we don’t have high winds or severe storms, we will be there! So gear up when needed, and make a quick run through the market to support our local vendors who come out in all weather!

* Starting at 3pm on market days, Farmers Market customers are welcome to park on any level of the garage, but metered spots must be paid until 5pm. Entrance to the garage is on Linden Street.

* Metered street parking is also available before 5pm. Parking is FREE AFTER 5PM at all meters in town!
