Philadelphia Orchestra at Longwood Gardens
Tuesday, July 2 @ 7:30 am - 9:00 pm
Join the Philadelphia Orchestra Tuesday, July 2 as they presents a “smartly curated” and “absolutely accessible” program featuring a “triptych of 20th-century Americana” (Peter Dobrin, The Philadelphia Inquirer), just in time for the July Fourth holiday. Led by assistant conductor Kensho Watanabe, The Philadelphia Orchestra celebrates its legacy of imagination, innovation, and excellence with an evening of music by American composers and Beethoven. Beginning with Michael Daugherty’s Flamingo, a wild and fun concerto for two tambourines, the orchestra relaxes with George Gershwin’s charming Lullaby before racing to intermission with Morton Gould’s American Symphonette No. 2. Concluding the program is Beethoven’s masterpiece Symphony No. 1. all in the beauty of Longwood’s Open Air Theatre.
