Mushroom Cap Half Marathon 13.1
Saturday, November 2 @ 8:00 am - 12:00 pm
HALF MARATHON DETAILS
The Mushroom Cap Half Marathon and Relay Event explores Kennett Square’s landmarks, unique neighborhoods, and growing commerce. The race takes runners on a picturesque journey throughout the mushroom capital of the world. Hydrate with TailWind Nutrition as well as local hops along the course. Immediately following, get your celebration on at our finish line festival!
From the runner swag, to the course, to the themed aid stations…It’s the race that celebrates you!
The Mushroom Cap Half Marathon is a rain or shine event. We always hope and plan for sun but if the opposite holds true, we will run in rain, in wind, and in snow. Only EXTREME weather conditions (i.e. hurricanes or blizzards) will close the event. Our goal is to start this event on time at 8:00AM and have every runner safely finished by 11:30AM.
There is a 3:30 minute (16-minute mile) cutoff time for this race. If your pace falls behind the cutoff, you will be asked to leave the course in the provided safety vehicle.
The KSQ Mushroom Cap 13.1 is a race where every runner counts!
The 3rd Annual MCHM will take place on Saturday, November 2, 2019 starting promptly at 8:00am in front of The Creamery on Birch Street.
Post Race Celebration
The MCHM is host an amazing finish line festival! The beer garden will open at 9:00am and stay open until whenever the party ends. All age appropriate runners will receive one complementary pint of cold beer at the post-race bash. Come one, come all, the festival is open to runners, spectators, volunteers and community friends.

Both the half marathon and relay courses are beautiful and feature their share of rolling hills – particularly the second half of the course on Kennett Square’s quiet, rural roads. We encourage runners to review the course and prepare for these hills, particularly if chasing personal bests or qualifying times. An elevation chart can be found on the course map.
Runners and walkers are welcome to participate, however, on course-aid and roads can only be secured for a set amount of time based on municipality agreement, so all participants must be able to maintain a 16 minute mile or less and finish the half marathon in 3.5 hours. After this time, aid stations will be closed, police will no longer monitor traffic, and roads will be re-opened, making safe passage to the finish very difficult. In the event that you come in beyond this time limit Run2Shine will not be responsible for your safety. If you do not feel that you can maintain a 16-minute mile or less over the half marathon course, for your safety, please consider a different event. Perhaps our Relay Event!
Half Marathon $115
2 Person Relay $85 per runner
Charity 1 Miler $25
Sunrise Yoga $10 (mat included)
Not everyone is up for 13.1 miles. A lot of runners prefer running with a mate and according to several studies, there is nothing better than getting your mate up early to run with you. The Relay allows two runners to share the distance of the half marathon, then to meet back up at the post-race festival and celebrate together.

Relay runners will be given chips for timing that will need to be exchanged at the relay exchange point. Relay Runners must stay to the right and enter the exchange chutes to make their exchange with team members. Half Marathon runners will stay to the left.
There is a single staging area at the exchange for Relay Teams. Volunteers will call out incoming team numbers. It is the responsibility of the Relay Teams and each team member to know when their team member will be arriving at each exchange. Knowing your teammates pace will help you preparing for the relay exchange.
Team member 2 will be waiting in their area and will be ready to take off for the second half of the race! Water and refreshments will be available for team member 1 at this point.
Awards will be given to the overall fastest overall finishers in each relay category member team. Awards will not be mailed out. You must pick up your award in person or have someone pick it up for you.
