Catch Wild for Salmon back in town this week, and stock your freezer with their sockeye and more. Perfect for holiday dinner parties or as an easy healthy protein in between the heavy holiday feasting.
Wild For Salmon is a PA-based, fishermen owned business that makes high quality fresh/frozen wild Alaskan sockeye salmon available locally at a good price. Their salmon & wild seafood products are sustainably harvested from the pristine waters of Bristol Bay, Alaska. It is carefully handled, chilled & frozen within hours of harvest in order to offer peak preservation of flavor, texture, color and nutritional content.
Items available for purchase this Friday: Sockeye Salmon Whole Fillets, Sockeye Salmon Portions (6oz), Smoked Salmon (Alder Smoked, Nova Smoked, and Garlic Pepper Smoked), Salmon Dips, Salmon Raviolis, Sockeye Salmon Burgers (Feta-Dill, Spicy, Garden Style, and Plain), as well as other wild-caught seafood items from like-minded fisherman in AK including Pacific Cod, Black Cod, Halibut, and Scallops.
A hot bowl of made-from-scratch soup on a cold night comforts the body and nourishes the soul. Join us in welcoming Julia Shearer, owner of Anna Karenina’s Kitchen, bringing her “old world soups” to Kennett Square this Friday & throughout the Winter season. Made with locally sourced fresh ingredients, she will have Russian Red Borscht, Siberian Chicken Noodle, and Split Pea & Bacon. Come enjoy a taste an say hello!
If you pre-ordered a Thanksgiving TURKEY from Canter Hill, pickup will be at Kennett Friends Meeting on Tues, Nov 21st / 5:30–7pm (unless you arranged otherwise). Wayne will be at Market this Friday if you have any questions.
Winter hours: We’re so lucky to have a year-round Market! Our regular season ends this week, but after a two week break, we’ll be back in business on December 8th, 2nd & 4th Fridays, 3-5pm through April. Find us outside on State Street (as weather permits.) Flying Plow & London Vale will bring vegetables plus their beef, chicken & pork. Canter Hill will also bring their amazing meats & poultry. Plus more of your favorite producers & prepared foods!

FARMS & GROWERS (Produce, Meats, Plants/Flowers)
Canter Hill Farm–Wayne is bringing their pastured lamb, pork, turkey, chicken, duck, beef, ostrich, sausages & eggs. Also, South African seasoned, dehydrated beef (biltong) and sausage (droewors). And duck mousse & pork pates! Order ahead via email if you know what you’d like—they’ll set it aside for you to pick up. See their website for product availability.
Flying Plow Farm–Flying Plow’s certified organic vegetable harvest may include tender lettuce mix, spinach, arugula, red russian kale, butternut squash, parsnips, rutabagas, celeriac, carrots, beets, curly kale, parsley, onions and garlic. Sweet potatoes may include white, purple & orange varieties. They also have a variety of pasture-raised certified organic chicken, pork & 100% grass-fed/finished beef. *Preorders for eggs & beef are recommended via their online order form.*
London Vale Farm-John will have many varieties of winter squash plus an assortment of vegetables that will include Brussels sprouts (both quarts & on the stalk), green cabbage, some peppers, red & yellow onions, several varieties of potatoes & pastured pork cuts & grilling sausages. Probably no eggs this week, sorry! Pre-order any pork cuts by calling the farm at 610 869 3223.
Shady Grove-Ben is finished for the season, but we look forward to having him back in the Spring with his gorgeous flowers and produce!
Swallow Hill Farm-FINAL WEEK! Elizabeth & Doug were hit hard by the freeze over the weekend, so sadly, their Brussels sprouts came to an abrupt end. But they will have their beautiful red cabbage, Carmen sweet peppers (picked just before the freeze!), plenty of butternut squash & watermelon radishes. To complement your Thanksgiving meals: rosemary & sage sprigs. And don’t miss out on their gorgeous Rosemary trees! All “homegrown with love” that you can taste.
Rex Farms Orchard / Bighill Ciderworks–FINAL WEEK! Troy will wrap up his season this week, so plan to stock up on apples & ciders. Sweet cider can be frozen (just enjoy a bit off the top to make room for expansion.) Apple varieties may include: Gold Rush, Cameo, Fuji, Honeycrisp, Esopus Spitzenburg, Stayman & Black Twig. Bighill’s hard ciders are perfect for Thanksgiving meals and truly farm-to-bottle—with the fruit grown, pressed, fermented & bottled right on the farm.

Big Sky Bread-Please note that Big Sky is done for the season (Melina of Tat’s Yummies will have a selection of freshly baked breads this week, see below!)
Brandywine Bee Co.–Michael is bringing his own small batch local honey as well as other select honey products, a variety of pure beeswax candles, hand salve, soaps and more. Have you seen his new glass bear jars? So perfect for gifting! (This could be Mike’s FINAL WEEK until January, so stock up!)
Joanne’s Candy Kitchen–FINAL WEEK! Come get a taste of Kevin’s sweet handmade chocolate creations such as almond butter crunch, peppermint patties, chocolate covered caramels, and so much more! New item: Dark Chocolate Candied Ginger. Joanne’s is a small family business with recipes passed down through the generations, using Wilbur chocolate out of Lilitz, PA.
Keepwell Vinegar–With a deep commitment to local food, Sarah & Isaiah ferment their vinegars from scratch with all ingredients sourced from Mid-Atlantic farms. Come TASTE, stock your pantry, and take home some new recipes to try. Their unique vinegars make fabulous gifts for the cooks on your list!
Maiale Deli & Salumeria–Handcrafted locally, Maiale (“My.all.ay”) has unique fresh sausages, with flavor combinations such as Turkey with Drunken Cranberries, Turducken, Chicken Cordon Bleu with Ham & Swiss, Triple Threat Chicken Marsala Sausage with Pork…and more! They will also bringing a small selection of their signature salumi—varieties may include Tuscan Salami, Sopressata, Cacciatore Salami, Pepperoni, Coppa, Lanzo, Pancetta and Guanciale.
Mediterranean Delicacy–Sourced directly from his home country of Tunisia, Abdel is bringing rich & flavorful organic/unfiltered olive oil, organic argan oil, unique spice blends and spreads. He also carries beautiful handcrafted olive wood items for your kitchen. All of his products make beautiful & delicious gifts. (This could be Abdel’s last week for a while, so buy now just in case!)
Sunset Park Cookies–You don’t have to be gluten-free or vegan to appreciate Sunset Park’s delicious cookies, pumpkin & chocolate whoopie pies, sweet breads, and homemade pies—all made with gluten free flour, without eggs or dairy! He also has cookies with no added sugar. Fred is at market each week with his scrumptious, freshly baked treats.
Tat’s Yummies–Melina is an expert baker, bringing a delectable variety of European pastries, cookies, tarts, macarons, cakes, pies & savory quiches to market each week. Made from scratch with no preservatives or artificial ingredients, her baked goods are as beautiful as they are delicious. Whiskey Hollow–Sara will be loaded up with her family’s pure PA maple syrup, maple cream, maple pecans, maple candies, maple mustard, local fruit preserves…and GIFT BASKETS full of their delicious maple products! PREPARED FOODS (ready-to-heat / serve)
Katja’s Empanadas–Bringing a delicious variety of frozen empanadas and pastelon (plantain lasagne), Katja’s creations are ready to take home and heat for easy dinners any night of the week or excellent dinner party appetizers! She has vegetarian options, too—the Pumpkin Sage is fantastic! She also makes incredible decorated cookies for seasonal treats & events.
Taste of Puebla–Chris will have plenty of hand-cut corn chips, fresh (and addictive!) guacamole, pico de gallo & salsa fresca. Also Pozole Verde soup & Chicken Mole Poblano (great for sandwiches or over rice). And as always, three varieties of delicious tamales—pork, chicken and vegan—ready to heat and serve. The Market is held RAIN OR SHINE. As long as we don’t have high winds or severe storms, we will be there! So gear up when needed and make a quick run through the market to support our local vendors who come out in all weather.

* Starting at 3pm on market days, Farmers Market customers are welcome to park on any level of the garage. Entrance to the garage is on Linden Street.
* Metered street parking is also available before 5pm. Parking is FREE AFTER 5PM at all meters in town!
