Kennett Amateur Theatrical Society (KATS) is a local theater company for adult amateur actors, singers, musicians, production team members and writers. It was founded in August 2001 by a group of friends who live in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania. The society was created to stage an annual pantomime in the British style (mid January). We also do improvisational “murder mysteries” (In August), and we solicit and stage plays and other entertainments (in July). There is no fee to join KATS. All our productions are completely original and written by local authors.

The KENNETT FLASH is an all ages concert venue where national, regional and local recording artists can get up close and personal with a 100 of their most loyal fans. Every seat is a front row seat where lights, sound and performance will immerse you into an exceptional hight of entertainment. All genres of music from rock to classical, blue grass jams to open mic, comedy to poetry slams, and movies to family shows make their way to the stage of KENNETT FLASH.

The Library has over 50,000 circulating and non-circulating items in its various collections. These collections consist of fiction and nonfiction books, a reference collection, children’s books, audio books, DVDs and periodicals. The Library has six computers with internet access for public use in the adult reference area. There are also three computers in the children’s library with a variety of educational and multimedia programs that children can use.

The KSCC was originally founded in 1940 as an all-volunteer community orchestra. The Symphony, under the direction of Mary Woodmansee Green, now performs six concerts annually including a free children’s concert with instrument petting zoo. Concerts are performed at venues throughout Chester County including Longwood Gardens Open Air Theatre, The Emilie K. Asplundh Concert Hall at West Chester University and the Kennett High School Auditorium. Community outreach programs include an annual instrumental and a vocal performance competition for young artists. The Kennett Symphony Children’s Chorus comprised of nearly 100 student vocalists, ages six through eighteen. Is now in-residence-at West Chester University and under the direction of Dr. Kristen A. Albert.

The Hadley Memorial Fund annually presents a series of cultural and entertainment programs.The programs are for “the civic betterment, social welfare and education of the people of Kennett Square and the surrounding country, or who ever may care to avail themselves of an opportunity to learn and be entertained.”
