Dr. D. Duer Reynolds, a prominent local physician, and Ray Lyman Ott, head of the Kennett Consolidated School music department, founded the Kennett Community Symphony Orchestra in 1940 as an all-volunteer orchestra. Today the Kennett Symphony is Chester County, Pennsylvania’s only professional symphony orchestra.

Featuring light classics and pops, Kennett Symphony gives audiences the chance to experience love through many genres. This casual performance presents selections from Rodgers and Hammerstein’s enchanted The King and I, John Williams’ Love Theme from Star Wars Episode II, Tchaikovsky’s musical depiction of young love and impending tragedy in Romeo and Juliet Fantasy Overture, among others. Throughout the performance, Kennett Symphony will feature the recent winner of the Kennett Symphony Instrumental Competition, Audrey Emata, and the winner of the Kennett Symphony Voice Competition, Jowoon Chae.
