Longwood’s Chrysanthemum Festival is one of the largest and oldest chrysanthemum displays in North America. Chrysanthemums were first grown and displayed in the Gardens when our founder Pierre du Pont opened the Conservatory in 1921. Creating the annual Chrysanthemum Festival is a yearlong process for the Horticulture team. It is truly a grand effort the requires planning, careful growing conditions, exclusive cultivars, many hands, and perfect timing. How do all these elements come together?! This talk will explore how it happens and some of the people that make Longwood’s display so special.
