JUNETEENTH is the annual observance of the official date of recognition of the Emancipation Proclamation in all states, following the Civil War. The Kennett Underground Railroad Center will present the dramatic film NIGHTJOHN, based on the young adult novel by Gary Paulsen. The movie tells the tale of a young slave girl who is taught to read by a fellow slave and the subsequent impact that illegal act has on her life and that of others on the southern plantation. This film is rated PG-13.
